The small print.

I.Who we are

Under Tropics is a licensed Maldivian tour operator, registered in Malé (license UT-LIC-2014/0418, issued by the Maldives Ministry of Tourism). Our registered office is Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Malé 20-02, Republic of Maldives. “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to Under Tropics.

II.How a booking works

All trips begin as an inquiry, which is non-binding. Once we send a quote and you confirm, we’ll send a payment link. A booking is confirmed only after the deposit (or full payment, depending on the property) has cleared. You’ll then receive a branded itinerary and confirmation by email.

• Inquiry → quote (typically within one working day)
• Quote → confirmation (we hold rooms for up to 72 hours)
• Confirmation → payment link (usually a 25–50% deposit, balance due 60 days before arrival)
• Payment cleared → itinerary and travel documents issued

III.Payment

Payment is taken via secure payment link in USD, EUR, or GBP. We do not store card details. Most properties accept staged payment (deposit + balance), and we’ll specify the exact schedule in your quote.

Prices displayed on the site as “from” are starting rates for the lead-in room or villa, in low season. Green Tax, service charge, and T-GST may apply on top and will be itemised in your quote.

IV.Cancellation & changes

Each property has its own cancellation policy, which we will share with the quote. As a general guide:

• More than 60 days before arrival — full refund less any non-recoverable transfer costs
• 30–60 days — deposit forfeit
• Under 30 days — case-by-case, often non-refundable

We strongly recommend travel insurance covering cancellation, medical, and trip-disruption events. We can recommend providers if helpful.

V.Liability

We act as a tour operator and intermediary between you and the properties / transfer providers / partners. We use only licensed and insured suppliers, but cannot be held liable for events outside our control (weather, sea conditions, government action, force majeure). We carry professional indemnity insurance and operator’s liability cover appropriate to our license.

VI.Membership

Registration on the website is open and free. Membership — which unlocks upgrades, member fares, credits, and access to the members-only feed — is a separate, approved status granted on request. Membership is at our discretion. Approved members agree to the additional members’ code of conduct, which they receive on approval.

VII.Content & behaviour

Anything you post in our community feeds (The Current, The Lagoon — when available) must be civil, on-topic, and free of commercial promotion. We remove posts and accounts that don’t meet that standard. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display the post on the site.

VIII.Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Maldives. Disputes will be resolved first by good-faith negotiation, then by arbitration in Malé under Maldivian arbitration rules.

IX.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version effective at the time of your booking will govern that booking. Material changes will be notified by email to active account holders.
